One of the most respected veterans in professional Dota 2 may be preparing to step away from the game's biggest stage.

Following Team Falcons' elimination from The International 2026, Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen admitted that this year's tournament was "probably" his last appearance at The International, raising questions about the future of his competitive career.

"This was probably my last The International"

After Falcons were knocked out by Team Liquid in the lower bracket, Cr1t- reflected on both the team's performance and his own journey in professional Dota 2.

"Obviously, every team in the playoffs can beat each other. We had two very close series, but we couldn't play our best Dota, and that's why we're out."

Looking back on the last three years with Team Falcons, the Danish support spoke warmly about his teammates and everything they achieved together.

"Three years is a long time. We have so many memories. We've had different results, but we won last year. We hoped we could defend our title, but it was very difficult. Everyone gave everything."

The most emotional moment came when Cr1t- was asked about playing in China again for the first time since 2019.

"The last time I was in China was in 2019. It feels special. This was probably my last The International. I'm happy it happened here. I'll miss it. I've played at so many TIs, and it's been an honor."

While Cr1t- stopped short of officially announcing his retirement, his comments strongly suggest that he is considering bringing an end to one of the longest careers in professional Dota 2.

A legendary career

Cr1t- began competing professionally in 2012 and has remained one of the world's top support players for well over a decade.

Throughout his career, he has represented several elite organizations, including OG, Evil Geniuses, Shopify Rebellion, and Team Falcons, earning a reputation for his consistency, leadership, and mechanical skill.

Among his biggest achievements are:

  • The International 2025 champion

  • Over $3.8 million in career prize money

  • More than a decade competing at the highest level of professional Dota 2

  • Multiple Major championships and international titles

Few players have maintained such a high level of performance for as long as Cr1t-, making him one of the most accomplished support players in Dota 2 history.

Falcons' title defense ends early

Team Falcons entered The International 2026 hoping to defend the championship they won a year earlier.

Instead, their campaign came to an end after a 1-2 defeat to Team Liquid in the first round of the lower bracket. The loss eliminated Falcons from the tournament far earlier than expected and marked a disappointing finish to their season.

Has Cr1t- played his final professional match?

Cr1t- has not officially confirmed his retirement, but his comments have already sparked speculation across the Dota 2 community.

With the post-TI roster shuffle approaching, fans will be watching closely to see whether the Danish veteran decides to continue competing or close the chapter on one of the most successful careers the game has ever seen.
